形態特徵

• deciduous tree branchlets velutinous with brom hairs
• Leaves odd-pinnate, 25–50 cm long, alternate, estipulate; petioles 8–12 cm long; leaflets opposite, 7–14 cm long, 3–5 cm wide, elliptic to ovoid-elliptic, acute at the apex, oblique and obtuse at the base, green at the adaxial side, slightly pubescent with white hairs at the abaxial side.
• Inflorescence racemose, terminal, 20–35 cm long, velutinous with brown hairs; flowers bisexual, slightly zygomorphic, perigynous; pedicels about 1.5–2 cm long; calyx-tube campanulate, about 1.5 cm long, slightly 5-lobed, velutinous at the dorsal side; petals 5, imbricate, pink, obovate, about 2.5 cm long and 1.5 cm wide, inserted on the calyx-tube, slightly pubescent; stamens 8, 1.5–2 cm long, the anthers versatile, 2-celled, longitudinally dehiscent, the filaments haired at the base; pistils 1; ovary 3 locular, haired, the style 1, slightly curved, the stigma capitate.
• Fruit a capsule, ovoid, slightly compressed, about 3cm long, slightly pubescent with brown hair; seeds ewd , elllipsoid-globular , about 1 cm across
• Chromosome numbers 18 (2n).

分布

• 台灣 : appearing in the secondary or shrubby forests, or at open areas at low altitudes in the northern part.
• 世界 : Central and Southern China including Yunnan, Kuangsi, Kuangtung, Chiangsi, Chechiang, Hunan, Hupei, Kueichow, and Szechuan.
